	Gale’s on-board at the NHRA Motorsports Museum: The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California announced today that Gale Banks, president of Gale Banks Engineering, and Jack O’Bannon, five-time NHRA world champion team owner, have been appointed to the museum board of directors. 	A Gathering of Land-Speed Luminaries: For all the wind-tunnel testing and manic fund-raising that may precede an effort to set a land-speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats, success ultimately depends on the performance of that most volatile variable, the driver. This consensus emerged last Saturday, when record-setting drivers and car builders gathered at the Wally Parks N.H.R.A. Motorsports Museum for a panel discussion about the preparation, promotion and psychology of chasing a land-speed record. The discussion preceded an awards banquet for the local Sidewinders car club. 	Mickey Thompson Panel Celebrates Record: A panel discussion will be held on Saturday, May 15th at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mickey Thompson’s historic run at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The panel will consist of family members and a few who worked with him, including Gale Banks, and will provide a personal look into the life of one of history’s greatest motorsports innovators. 	Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum | DRIVE!: AS WITH MANY OF the big-name companies in this industry, Gale Banks began his journey in much more humble surroundings than he enjoys now; but few of his contemporaries were younger when they began trying to earn a living in it. It was at the tender age of 14 that Banks attacked the engine in his mother’s 1931 Model A Ford. The end result of his efforts saw an increase of more than 40 hp to the notoriously underpowered car. 	The First 50 years” Opens at Wally Parks NHRA Museum | Diesel World: On December 3, 2008, 50 years of automotive and marine engineering innovation was put on display at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, to honor Gale Banks and his achievements. The exhibit, aptly titled “Banks Power – The First 50 Years,” was kicked off with a reception hosted by Banks where some 150 guests had a chance to preview the 3,400-square-foot exhibit.	May 2009
