Older RAM Breathes Easier

San Diegan James Givens bought his 2006 RAM with just shy of 270,000 miles on the odometer. The original owner had already installed the Six-Gun TunerBanks Brake, and Monster Exhaust. But to James, it wasn’t breathing as well as it could. “I wanted to get more air into the engine with the Monster-Ram. Folks told me that just doing that wasn’t enough and that I needed to change my intercooler because the stock one was also a restriction. I ended up buying the kit with both the Intercooler Upgrade, which included the Monster-Ram and boost tubes. The extra airflow seems to have done the trick because it not only runs better, but the EGTs came down as well. I also hear the turbo more, and the whole thing just looks good under the hood.”

“My son built a prerunner, and in order to go out to the desert we have a 5,000 ft climb. Coming back, it’s an even steeper climb to get back on the highway. The truck has a lot of weight in it as it is because we use it for camping with the hard case rooftop tent. With all that, the truck never gets hot and runs just fine since the Intercooler Upgrade Kit was installed. The transmission never over-temps, and you can drive it at highway speeds for hours without the coolant being an issue. I’m thinking the Ram-Air Intake is the next thing on my list to get to completely get rid of any restrictions.”
