Pikes Peak Part 1 – Dyno and Track Video
Dallenbach Racing and Banks Power have teamed up to take on this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Dallenbach Racing and Banks Power have teamed up to take on this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Driver Paul Dallenbach has set records on the mountain before, and this year he’s aiming to be the first person to beat the 10 minute mark in the Unlimited class. Helping him get there are two Banks turbochargers, which boosted power output from a not-too-shabby 745 hp & 650 lb-ft to a whopping 1307 hp & 1206 lb-ft.
What makes this car special isn’t just the Banks turbos—it’s the team behind it. As opposed to other full paid race teams with full factory support, they are all volunteers working with a shoestring budget. Though the car is nearly 20 years old, and they have been running with a massive power disadvantage (until now!) they still run in the top 3 every year. We like to think of it as a “David vs Goliaths” story.
The big event is June 26, 2011 so make sure to come back and watch what is sure to be one heck of a race to the top!
