New Intercooler for 2010-12 RAM 6.7L
The new Banks Technicooler for the 2010-2012 RAM 6.7L is unlike any intercooler you’ve ever seen. We’ve brought cutting-edge, patent-pending fluid dynamics and engineering to a 15 year-old truck desperately in need of lower intake air temps.
2010-12 RAM owners who tow know all too well that stock intercooler is unable to reject enough heat. High intake air temps cause the truck’s ECM to withdraw fuel and reduce power when you need it the most. Towing up grades during summer months gets harder and harder as temps rise. In an attempt to cool the engine, the ECM reduces power output.

Pictured above is one of several sensor setups that our Mechanical Engineering Team employed to measure and log pressure, temperature and air velocity in front of, inside, and behind the intercooler. Tests were performed on the dyno and on the road.
A good intercooler must perform a difficult balancing act between effectiveness and efficiency. It must cool the charge air better than stock (effectiveness) while maintaining boost pressure (efficiency). This is often easier said than done. Enlarging the core is great for heat rejection, but can result in a loss of boost pressure because you’ve created unwanted restrictions. And if you make it to thick it can prevent air from passing through and cooling the engine! Uneven distribution of air across the core can result in hot and cold spots.
Close inspection of the new Banks intercooler reveals a massive core and something you’ve never seen before. We knew we had to increase the diameter of the inlet and outlet but there there was so little room between the radiator core support and frame that enlarging them to 4″ in diameter simply wasn’t possible without cutting the factory core support or frame. The answer took months to perfect. We engineered an elliptical inlet, outlet, and silicone hoses. The result was 78% greater inlet and outlet area than stock without the need to alter the core support or frame.

The results speak for themselves. RAM owners will appreciate the improved throttle response and lower intake temps thanks to boost loss reduction of 3.5 psi over stock. In other words, it’s much better at maintaining boost than stock! The complete system includes mandrel-bent high-flow boost tubes and all necessary hardware.
