Monster-Ram for Duramax
The Monster-Ram isn’t just a cast aluminum work of art for your 2017-2024 Duramax 6.6L L5P. It improves throttle response while increasing the life of your turbo! It’s the culmination of over a year of development and testing. With a larger outlet and a smooth organic shape, the Monster-Ram increases air density to the turbo compressor. This results in lower shaft speeds and less time to reach the ECM’s target boost. In other words, better throttle response!
Something Powerful
The L5P’s Borg Warner turbo has an anti-surge feature, half-machined into the compressor cover and half-machined into the intake elbow. This anti-surge geometry prevents airflow from reversing direction, sending powerful pulses out of the turbo’s compressor and backward through the intake tube. Many have felt what Gale Banks has coined, “silent surge,” which can often be felt but not heard. Silent surge degrades the turbo over time thanks to unwanted axial forces on the thrust bearing. If turbo surge is powerful enough, the truck will bounce like a bucking bronco. Boost drops, and power is lost. This is called severe surge.
Many of our competitors’ turbo inlets cause this condition because they have no surge protection or it’s poorly designed. When developing the Monster-Ram, we improved upon GM’s anti-surge geometry, increasing air density with no surge. There is no other Duramax turbo inlet like it.
