Bonneville Beauty Shots
In 1988 a book simply titled “Bonneville Salt Flats” was published. The book showcases some of the fastest vehicles. The Banks Bonneville Beauty aka the Pontiac Tran Am was on the cover. At the time of printing the Trans Am was the fastest passenger car at a speed of 268 mph. It had a stock body propelled by a twin-turbocharged 454 cubic inch engine producing 1,600 horsepower.
Other Banks record-breaking vehicles were scattered throughout the book, joining other salt scorchers. If you can find this book you’ll be treated to amazing pictures. It’s also a slice of American history and ingenuity that unfortunately is fading. Check out another Bonneville Beauty Banks built.
