Big Punch For Sluggish Duramax 3.0L

Tony Merendino hated the performance of his daily-driven 2023 GMC 3.0L Duramax, and was about to sell his truck when he decided to try the PedalMonster. It turns out that the decision saved his relationship with his truck. He had migrated from a 2018 Power Stroke 3.0L to this Duramax 3.0L because it was time to move on, and it had all the options he wanted. The tragic thing for him was that it had a 3.23 rear axle gear, which was its Achilles heel. “I’ll tell you, after driving that truck for a while, I hated my decision to get this one,” Tony said. “The performance was horrible. I probably wouldn’t have kept the truck for 6 months before getting rid of it, because I just can’t stand something that has so much dead pedal. What saved it was the PedalMonster. I can’t believe how much it has transformed the truck. And on top of that, I haven’t lost any mileage.”

Intro

0:00 are you unhappy with your throttle
0:01 response out of the hole mid-range top
0:04 end if there’s room for improvement
0:07 have the solution I’m Gail Banks what
0:10 happens when an engine guy or even
0:12 better a turbo guy does a throttle
0:14 booster the new pedal monster is the
0:17 throttle booster with a brain it’s the
0:19 most intelligent and safest throttle
0:22 sensitivity controller available here’s

The reality

0:25 the reality we spend most of our time
0:27 coming off the line merging with a
0:30 trailer out back maneuvering in traffic
0:32 at part throttle or working some cool
0:35 stretch of Mountain Road till now you’ve
0:38 been the victim of some group at the
0:41 factory and their predetermined pedal
0:44 profile here’s what’s cool pedal monster
0:47 allows you to precisely select just
0:49 where the power comes in and at what

Drive by wire

0:52 rate today’s cars and trucks are dri by
0:54 wire when you push down the pedal it
0:57 sends a signal to the computer to open
0:59 the throttle the problem with drive by
1:02 wire is that manufacturers often build
1:04 in what we call sponge pedal looking for
1:07 that last tenth of a percent of fuel
1:10 economy in doing so they soften up the
1:13 response and take away 50% of the fun

Sponge pedal

1:16 pedal monster gets rid of that
1:19 lag oh
1:23 yeah oh this is fun let me explain first
1:27 you select the transmission type stick
1:29 or automatic IC then you choose your
1:31 driving mode City sport or track Each of
1:35 which have 10 pedal profiles here’s how

How it works

1:38 it works the pedal monster intercepts
1:40 signals between the pedal and the
1:42 vehicle’s computer then it modifies
1:45 those signals based on the mode and
1:47 pedal profile you choose you know there
1:50 are quite a few throttle boosters on the
1:52 market and almost all of them have
1:54 something in common they’re not safe the

Safety

1:57 biggest safety issue with modules like
1:59 these is that if something goes wrong
2:02 you’re instantly left with no pedal it’s
2:05 like you took the pedal and threw it out
2:07 the window well hell I guess we don’t
2:11 need this
2:13 pedal this is where pedal monster is
2:16 different it utilizes the same active
2:19 safety Health monitoring circuitry that
2:22 we use in all our inline tuners all
2:25 pedal sensors send two or more signals
2:27 to the vehicle’s computer one rising and
2:31 one falling this redundancy is done for
2:34 safety pedal monster is constantly
2:36 looking at these signals if it sees
2:39 something out of spec it Returns the
2:41 pedal to stock another fatal flaw with

Power

2:44 other throttle boosters is that they
2:45 draw current to power the module by
2:49 tapping into the pedal circuit itself in
2:52 many vehicles like mopark cars and
2:54 trucks for example that 5vt circuit
2:57 doesn’t have enough electrical current
2:59 overhead to safely power any additional
3:02 circuitry apparently some of our

Competitors

3:04 competitors have a problem with
3:06 this so we’ve got the check engine light
3:09 on the truck just said engine power
3:12 reduced what do we do to this thing bro
3:15 what did you do I didn’t do anything
3:17 oh maybe this pedal Commander wasn’t a
3:20 good idea we solve this by supplying
3:22 this guy an OBD cable powering pedal
3:26 monster via 12 volts from the OBD port
3:30 where there’s ample current capacity

Features

3:32 since we’re on the OBD port and capable
3:35 of communicating with the vehicle’s
3:37 computer we added vehicle speed sensing
3:40 giving us adjustable lows speeed trim
3:43 and on stick shifts smoother clutch
3:45 engagement and selected gear sensing
3:48 gives us reverse safety these are
3:51 important safety features no other
3:54 throttle device has this is called speed
3:56 based trim so you can select kind of
3:59 that that response and the level of
4:01 response under 10 m hour so I don’t want
4:04 to CH have to disable the system every
4:07 time I’m loading the back of the the bed
4:09 up or towing a trailer I can select this
4:12 set it and forget it under 10 mph stock
4:16 throttle response and because pedal
4:18 monster knows what gear you’re in it
4:20 automatically returns to stock pedal
4:23 sensitivity when you’re in Reverse
4:25 reverse is not something you want to get
4:27 too spicy in modules like pedal
4:29 Commander have no clue what speed you’re
4:32 at or what gear you’re in so they’re
4:35 just as Twitchy in Reverse as they are
4:37 in Drive easy a 2-year-old could do this
4:41 and when you combine it with an ID Dash
4:43 data monster or ID Dash super gauge you
4:46 can control the pedal monster right from
4:49 the gauge and if you’re wondering will

Outro

4:51 this affect my warranty if that’s a
4:54 concern when you remove the pedal
4:56 monster it doesn’t leave a footprint
4:58 we’ve got them for cars we’ve got them
5:00 for trucks we’ve got them for naturally
5:02 aspirated supercharged and turbocharged
5:05 and it’ll put a smile on your
5:08 [Music]
5:10 face I swear it’s so responsive now I
5:13 barely even touch it if this sounds fun

“Coming from that Power Stroke 3.0L, which I loved, I learned a lot about other products on the market and what negative effects can happen from them. I had put a Stealth tuner on it, and it had to be towed twice. My truck was always pinging, like an old ’78 unleaded car. It scared me to death, so I sold that little garbage box. And all of the other vehicles that I’ve ever tuned seemed to not get the transmission right. They all shifted like crap, but not the PedalMonster. That little thing made the transmission shift right, like butter. My truck went from almost undrivable and making me feel anxious to feeling like a live-throttle diesel. I’ve never been this impressed with a product, let alone one for this price. For $295, it’s a bargain.”
