Unboxing: $400 Fuel Filters
In the latest UNBOXING video, Gale reveals the latest addition to Banks dyno cell 1 and 2, $400 fuel filters. Yes, $400 bucks each. Gale explains how the Parker/Racor 3250R fuel filter/water separator works. Additionally, he explains why it’s a critical ingredient for engine evaluation and product development in Banks dyno cells. First off, they’re huge, but that’s not why they’re great. It’s all about the filter media inside the S3207T filter canister. The multi-layer composite material is so fine that there are thousands of square meters of surface area in just one inch.
So why a $400 Fuel Filter? The first thing Gale was looking for is to get the dirt and water out of the diesel fuel and a lot of filter capacity with a low-pressure drop. What sets Parker/Racor apart is what’s inside. After 2007, changes in DPF requirements allowed water molecules to blend with the fuel and created a need for a new filtration system. Lots of surface area is key and that’s what makes Parker/Racor different. Watch the full video to learn more!
Next time, Gale opens up a box containing a part that could very well put the stock Duramax L5P over 1000 horsepower, a high-performance camshaft. Inside the FedEx box is a custom cam from the undisputed leaders in camshaft technology, Comp Cams.
