Ripping apart our ’66 Chevy | BANKS BUILT 20

We’re ripping apart our ’66 Chevy C20 pickup down to its chassis! The cab and bed need to be placed on the new Roadster Shop chassis so Erik and Jay get to work. The goal is to drive the truck to the SEMA Show in early November so it’s a race against time. The guys have to deliver the cab and bed, installed on the new chassis, to Empire Fabrication by July 1st. That gives them a month to get the supercharged Duramax engine mocked up and the dump bed structure welded into place.

Step one, rip the cab and bed off the old chassis without disturbing the creature living inside the Chevy. That’s right, Jay and Erik discover rodent droppings while gutting the truck. Of course, nothing is as it appears on this old truck. After ripping up the truck bed, they discover an older bed underneath.

After ripping up what they thought was the only layer of the truck bed, Jay and Erik discover an even more decrepit layer underneath.

After getting the bed out, they start gutting the interior before taking a break for the day. On Sunday, they come back to finish the job and remove the cab. Talk about weekend warriors!
