2022 Ford F-350: PedalMonster & Ram-Air Review

To say that Loren Mooney is satisfied with the Banks PedalMonster would be an understatement. “My previous truck was an ’06 Dodge Ram, and the guy that had it before me had installed everything that Banks offered: an EconoMind Tuner, and iDash, Ram-Air, a Monster-Ram intake, Monster Exhaust, and the Intercooler Upgrade. That thing was an absolute beast! (See photo below) Unfortunately, I needed something bigger for work, so I had to sell it. I ended up buying a 2022 Ford F-350. Right away, it felt sluggish—the turbo didn’t spool quickly, and it had zero punch taking off from a complete stop.”

“To try to get my new truck moving, I went the Banks route and bought a Ram-Air Intake and a PedalMonster. It was an essential upgrade, and honestly easier to install than floor mats! I leave it on the CITY setting at about mid-level. That gives me plenty of response to dart through traffic and help me tow, which I do quite a bit for my business. I tow utility trailers, usually weighing 8,000 to 10,000 lbs, to job sites. There’s a lot of stop-and-go traffic and merging onto freeways, and I need the extra boost that the PedalMonster gives me. Whenever I switch back to stock from time to time, it really makes you appreciative of what the PedalMonster does for the truck.”

“When it comes to the Ram-Air Intake, I noticed immediate results,” Loren continues. “The engine tone was throatier than stock, sounding healthier. It’s like putting on an adhesive nasal strip first thing in the morning and you go for a run—you just know you’re going to perform better because you have completely unrestricted air. That’s what the Banks intake is like.”

Loren’s 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty relies on Banks airflow and throttle upgrades for daily hauling.

“My wife’s 4Runner has a Pedal Commander on it. I had to do something, it’s one of the slowest things to get going that I’ve ever had. You can really tell the difference between the Pedal Commander and the Banks PedalMonster in performance and how the throttle sensitivity is applied. The Pedal Commander is jerky and twitchy, while the Banks is smooth. There’s also the issue of reverse safety, where the Pedal Commander jerks in reverse, and the PedalMonster senses reverse and doesn’t add sensitivity. Overall, I am really satisfied with Banks. It’s a difference you can actually feel!”
