Mark Richter’s 2018 RAM 6.4-liter
The 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 in the RAM is no slouch churning out 410 horsepower, but put it into a truck… change the suspension… add big tires and wheels… and that power gets watered down quickly. Add in already lackluster throttle response and the driving experience goes from great expectations to that of a bus with flat tires in no time flat.
Such is the case for Mark Richter of Falken Tires and his company demonstration vehicle. Equipped with a Carli suspension and running 37”-12.50R WILDPEAK A/T3W all-terrain wrapped around AEV Salta HD wheels, the 2018 RAM 1500 does the job of looking formidable. Mark and his truck travel for tire dealer service calls and events from Utah to Southern California, representing both Falken and Dunlop tires. Sometimes making the trek unloaded, other times towing a trailer filled with displays, and even putting miles on prototype tires, Mark spends a ton of time behind the wheel of the Falken RAM.
Living with the sluggish throttle for all those miles was pretty torturous until the PedalMonster came along. “Such a big difference,” said Mark enthusiastically, “much more responsive to the pedal movement than ever before. I mean it actually feels sporty for a big truck with big 37” tires! And the installation was so easy, it took about 15 minutes. Really, the truck should perform this way from the factory in the first place!”
