2,200 horsepower in our APBA K-Jet program

The boat groups are asking me about the early turbo work at my company, so here are some engine visuals from the 1970’s. There’s been some dialog about our power output with turbos compared to others at that time. I’m covering the whole story in my series, “Turbocharging is the life for me”. But I will leak this fact…We owned it!

At Banks in the ’70’s we were at 2,200 horsepower in our APBA K-Jet program. We won the National Championship and in an exhibition race pitting our K-Jet against the best V-Drive K Boats, we beat them all. And that was backed down to 1,800 hp to save the jet drive.

I hope that puts the power question to bed.
