2021 RAM 5500 owner reviews iDash DataMonster
Ben Palmer, 406 Garage
Ben Palmer of Bend Oregon’s 406 Garage buys, sells, and trades pre-1975 International Harvester trucks, Travelall, Scout, Scout II, and Travellettes. In Ben’s line of work, tow rigs like his RAM are invaluable tools. Time is money so knowing what’s happening under the hood and in the transmission is imperative.
“This is a work truck. It lives its life with a trailer connected. My bumper-pull car-hauler weighs four 4,000 pounds empty. My gooseneck trailer weighs 9,000 pounds empty. I have a three-car wedge trailer that weighs 7,000 pounds empty. Each one of the cars that I haul weighs 5,000 to 6,000 pounds. On any given day I could be hauling 10-25,000 pounds.”
“RAM only gives you so many gauges. But for what I do, I need to know everything about this engine and transmission and RAM just doesn’t provide all of those gauges. The iDash gives me everything I’ve ever wanted in a gauge and more—and I’ve only configured two of the five custom screens!”
