Unboxing a Ron Davis Racing Radiator
This week’s UNBOXING video sees Gale receiving a rather “cool” product, a Ron Davis Racing Radiator! If you’re following along you know that we’re building a 7.1 liter super-charged twin-turbo Duramax engine for a monster truck. As you can imagine, this bad boy will need some serious cooling.
The mechanical engineering team created two heat exchangers in Solidworks, sent the file to Ron Davis Racing Radiators in Glendale, Arizona. Then, we shipped them to Sparks Motors for some additional fabrication, then back here for final inspection and to be placed in Banks dyno cell No. 1.
Like everything at Banks, the Ron Davis Racing Radiator will be put through tests to measure the temperature passing through the radiator. There will also be a coolant flow meter for the test.
Do they cool as good as they look? To find out, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel or Facebook feed. Get the latest UNBOXING episode every Wednesday.
On the next episode, Gale Banks explains why turbo insulation and exhaust systems can be very important. We reached out to Heatshield Products to help with both our Duramax L5P in the Killing A Duramax series. The 35-year-old family-owned company sent various Lava Shield turbo covers, Heat Shield Armor for the up-pipes, and stainless steel fasteners.
