Doing Right by Customers Grows Local Shop

Cole Kostka has owned 715 Diesel for about 4 years now. He began his career at a local fuel injection shop right out of high school where he worked for about three years before moving to a competitor’s shop where he worked on performance upgrades. After learning the ropes in the field, he saw that he could do a better job at taking care of customers and decided to open his own business. “I’ve been open for 4 years now, and I have no regrets about making the move. I felt that both of the places I worked for just wanted customers in and out, and they really didn’t care about the people they serviced. I felt that I could do a better job of pleasing them.”

“We do just about anything and everything that’s diesel truck related, except for tires. Ford, GM, and Ram diesels are our bread and butter. We even take sad cases that we call ‘box parts trucks’, where the trucks are towed in with boxes of parts in the bed. We can put them back together again, that’s no problem.”

715 Diesel grew fast, like a Saint Bernard puppy. “For the first 8 months we were in a single-bay little shop, then we moved here to a four-bay shop and added three techs. It’s all ready to the point where I need a bigger shop and more techs, but the thing is that I don’t want to get to a point where I’ll lose touch with the customer. That’s the reason why I started this in the first place, and I’m not going to lose sight of that.
