Transmission built for 1,200 HP | Banks Built 10

Previously, we revealed that our supercharged Duramax will produce 650-1,200 horsepower depending on if Gale adds a turbo or nitrous to the supercharged engine. Consequently, we’ll need a stout transmission to get the power to the ground. We head to Arvada, Colorado to consult with ATS Diesel founder Clint Cannon about their Allison upgrades including billet input and output shafts, clutch pack, torque converter, improved cooling, and electronic controls. We intend to put this Allison to the test.

Clinton explains why ATS chose purple for their transmissions

Clinton Cannon started ATS way back and they remain the experts. Later, he explains every detailed step they will be taking to build the transmission for LokJaw so it’s engineered to shift well, hold power, and have drivability. Jay gets some serious schooling, and afterward, the two agree to do donuts after the Allison is delivered to Banks.

In the next episode of Banks Built, the guys head back to the Roadster Shop for an update on the chassis. Lastly, this series is brought to you by Amsoil and Nitto.
