Record-Breaking Banks Pontiac GTA
Interview and Cockpit View
From the Banks video archives comes an interview with Gale Banks himself talking about the company’s record-setting Pontiac GTAback in 2000. The Banks-built monster scorched the sault setting two-way average of 268 mph back in 1987, becoming the World’s Fastest Passenger Car… a title it held for two decades. The historic run was captured by an in-cabin video where you can hear the engine churning out over 1,600 horsepower, and the sound of the innovative Banks Shuttle Valve blow-off system working to keep the turbo spinning at full speed between shifts.
