Banks Breathes More Air And MPG
David Theriot wants to ensure the longevity of his truck, especially since his last truck went for the long haul. “I had a ’97 Dodge RAM with the 5.9L,” explains David. “I sold it in ’23 with 438,000 miles on it. I replaced that one with a 2021 RAM with the 6.7L. The first thing I started looking into was the fiasco on the grid heater. I spoke to a few mechanics and while they had heard of it, they’ve never seen it in person. With my luck, I’m going to be on the side of the interstate with my hand up saying ‘Yeah, it happened to me’. I’ve spent 36 years in the military doing aircraft maintenance and I don’t play that kind of game. If there’s a problem, you take care of it before it has a chance to fail. I researched to see what kind of solution there was and I decided to go with the Banks Monster-Ram. After watching the videos, I he knew what he was talking about. Gale won my trust.”
The cold weather in Virginia isn’t friendly for automotive do-it-yourselfers at the moment, so he’s having to install things in steps. “I ordered the Ram-Air Differential Cover first, the Ram-Air Intake, then the PedalMonster with iDash, and then I ordered the Monster-Ram. I’ve been able to install the intake and air horn, and when I get some good weather I’ll be installing the diff cover and iDash. I see it all as a good investment, because I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, and these parts are going to give me that longevity. The real surprise was the mileage bump that I got from just the two parts that I installed. I went from 19.5 mpg to around 22. That’s just regular driving. I know it’s only going to get better, and I can’t wait to see what the PedalMonster will do!”
