Banks Monster Exhaust® System 2018-2023 Jeep 2.0L Wrangler JL 4-door & 2-Door

Tools required:

Required Tools

  • Impact Driver or Wrench
  • 15MM Socket
  • 13MM Socket
  • 18MM Socket
  • Extensions
  • Flat Head Screwdriver
  • Exhaust Hanger Removal Pliers

NOTE: When removing the stock hardware, such as the hanger and assemblies, it is helpful to soak these parts with a spray lubricant, so you may want to add that to your set although it is not required

Bill of Materials


Section 1: Removing Stock Exhaust System

1. Secure the Jeep on a lift.

2. Loosen the driver-side exhaust clamp that secures the muffler to the exhaust pipe. 

3. Spray Some lubricant on the exhaust hanger bushing to ease removal.

3. With an exhaust hanger removal or similar tool, dislodge the driver-side muffler hanger from the rubber bushing. 

This hanger will remain bolted to the frame with the bushing attached.

4. Now move to the passenger-side muffler hanger.

The entire hanger bracket can be removed and will not be used.

Support the muffler as you remove the bolts as the muffler may sway and drop down.

5. With a side-to-side rocking motion you will need to move the muffler pipe around to get the brackets to loosen so it slides off the exhaust pipe.

Remove and set it to the side.

6. Move to the middle of the vehicle, you will be removing the under frame brace to gain access to the OEM exhaust system.

8. Remove all the bolts that secure the transfer case mount, and remove it from the vehicle.

9. Next you’ll be removing the OEM mid pipe section.

10. With an Exhaust Hanger Removal Pliers, disconnect the exhaust pipe hanger that is towards the rear of the jeep.

11. Next loosen the ball flange clamp on the other end of the front tail pipe, Keep the clamp this will be reused.

12. Remove the OEM front tail pipe from the Jeep.

13. Reinstall the under frame brace.

14. Next Install the Banks Ball Flare Adapter and clamp onto the Monster Muffler.

The muffler is directional, so be sure the Ball Flare Adapter is on the marked inlet side.

Tighten the clamp snug.

13. Remove the ball flange clamp from the OEM mid pipe section.

15. Swap the Ball Flange Clamp onto the Banks Monster Exhaust Inlet.

Section 2: Installing your Banks Monster Exhaust System

1. Now slide in and connect the new Monster Muffler section to the factory exhaust.

Tighten the front “ball” clamp.

2. With an additional clamp in your kit, slide it over the new intermediate pipe.

3. Raise up the Banks Front Tip Pipe under the Jeep.

4. Install the pipe onto the hanger on the chassis.

5. Slip the Banks Front Pipe Pipe onto the Monster Muffler.

6. Tighten up the clamp. But don’t torque everything down till the end.

6. Raise up the rear tail pipe section with clamp installed onto the front pipe.

7. Insert the pipe hanger into the driver-side rubber hanger.

8. Tighten the rear clamp.

9. Before torquing all the clamps down, check for clearance between the Monster Exhaust and other parts of the under body.

12. With clearance checked and clamps on straight, torque all the exhaust clamps to 50 ft-lbs
