Like Son, Like Father

Alan Nichols and his father made the switch to Banks and they couldn’t be happier. “We’ve had parts from Edge in the past, but when you’re shooting clouds of soot at your trailer, you begin to wonder what you’re doing to your emissions system. I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado, and my dad’s Silverado is a 2023. Whatever I do to mine, I do to his. We started off with the Ram-Air Intake System, which was absolutely phenomenal. Next on our list was the Boost Tube Upgrade Kit. Everything is running so much cooler than before. The next thing I bought was the Monster-Ram Turbo Inlet Elbow, and I was so impressed that I immediately bought one for dad.”

“My truck is a daily driver. I’ve got a 62-mile drive round trip for work, and on the weekends, my wife and I use it to tow our 30’ fifth-wheel. The whole Banks setup made such a difference in towing. Before, the turbo lag was horrible! I mean you put your foot into it, then after a second or so the truck says ‘oh… you wanted to go?’ But I also installed the PedalMonster, and it took the sluggishness away entirely. All the Banks stuff makes this the first truck that I’ve ever owned that I can set the cruise control and forget that I’ve got a trailer behind me. The last trip was long stretches of 6% grades, and like always, I had a slow semi get in front of me. I put on my blinker, and from a speed of 25 MPH, I went to 85 up that steep grade with no effort! My dad and I have been eyeing the Monster Exhaust and getting the CoolRunner Oil Pan. Chevys have the horsepower, but they just need Banks to wake them up.”

Performance isn’t the only thing that Alan was looking for. “The iDash SuperGaugeis such a great unit, and tells me everything that I want to see. I retired my Edge CTS3 since the firmware has been so poor, and the refresh rate on the iDash is so much faster. It looks factory with in the Stealth Pod! It wired up in less than half an hour, was much easier to setup than my old monitor. Since I’m running an iDash SuperGauge, I have it so that I can read my cold-side and hot-side tubes, and from what I’ve seen, the boost tubes have made a substantial difference in temperature.”
