Die Hard diesel enthusiast does repairs
Bill Waneka had always been a diesel enthusiast, but working at a Chevrolet dealership he was only allowed to work on vehicles and tune them within the GM functioning parameters. Many of the customers wanted more than just the mundane power that their trucks were born with, and Bill saw the opportunity. Working to give customers more power after-hours ’til 2 am became his side-hustle. The hustle became his full-time business in 2012 when he opened Die Hard Diesel. Because of his GM background, Die Hard Diesel concentrated for years on all things Duramax and Allison, but as the economy changed they’ve moved towards repairing just about anything (and that means gas). Bill says “If it has an engine, we’ll work on it.”
Die Hard Diesel may have started out as an opportunity to work some performance magic on Duramax diesel trucks, but it’s evolved into something much more. “Heck, we have a ’69 Camaro here that we’re installing an LS2 and a Tremec 60 in it. Basically, we can do just about anything.”
When it comes to Banks products, Bill chooses anything that helps increase airflow. “We like using Banks intakes and intercoolers, mostly because we’re in an agricultural location. We use the Banks intercooler on our own puller truck. The PedalMonster has been big, too.
