Stock Duramax vs Banks Duramax

Truck Guy Joe Fallon decided to do a comparison test, a stock Duramax against a Banks Duramax. He found himself at Corry-Lawrence Airport’s drag day in Northwestern Pennsylvania recently. The GM enthusiast was in his cherry condition ’91 GMC Syclone. He noticed a nearly identical truck to his 2021 L5P Chevy Silverado. His is all stock, while the 2022 doppelganger has the Banks iDashDerringer tunerRam-Air Intake, and PedalMonster throttle controller.

Joe decided it was a perfect opportunity to see if the Banks equipment really makes that much of a difference. You can see for yourself as the Banks-equipped truck walked away from him. Next, he ran against his wife’s Ford Edge ST. After a good head start, the 2.7-liter twin-turbo Edge caught up.

The last race in the video pits Joe’s stock Duramax against a stock 2022 TrailBoss 6.2L. The TrailBoss had a bad launch, but the acceleration was a near match.

The Banks Duramax leaves the stock Duramax behind

“If it was a true quarter-mile run, then Ken would have put at least another truck length on me.” Spectators could see the Banks Derringer really come alive when the 10-speed shifts into third gear.

After being badly beaten in his stock Duramax Joe confessed, “Guess I’ll have to call up Banks for a Derringer!”
