Instructions for updating your Banks iDash Data Pro
Before updating your Banks iDash Data Pro or iDash Pro, check to see if an update is needed. Please read through the instructions below before beginning the update process.
1. Download firmware file below
Firmware works with: All iDash Data Pro
IMPORTANT: If the current version of your iDash Pro is 1.18.3 or older, you will be performing a major update. If you have created custom pages, these may need to be manually recreated after updating the firmware. It is recommended to take a photo of each custom page so that you can quickly recreate your previously saved pages, layouts, and parameters.
This update is intended for 2020-2024 Duramax 3.0L LM2/LZ0 and 6.6L L5P trucks ONLY. Adds additional support for 2020-2022 Duramax LM2 and 2023-2024 Duramax LZ0.
All 2020-2024 3.0L LM2/LZ0 owners and 6.6L L5P owners should select DMAX LM2 from the vehicle list. Menu > Settings > Vehicle Selection > DMAX LM2
2. Insert micro-SD card into PC
Using a USB SD card reader or similar device, insert a micro-SD card into your computer.
Note: Make sure that any previous update files have been properly removed from the microSD card. Not doing so can cause unexpected results.
micro-SD card is included with iDash Pro 1.8 if you added the data logging option. Otherwise, any micro-SD card from 1GB up to 16GB will work with the iDash Pro
3. Locate downloaded file
Open Windows File Explorer and Locate the micro-SD card drive
4. Move file to micro-SD card
Transfer firmware file to micro-SD card by dragging files onto SD card drive
4b. Extract the firmware download
Right-click on the downloaded “.zip” file you just downloaded. On a PC select “Extract Here”, on a Mac select “Open”.
4c. Move files out of folder onto microSD card.
After extracting the files, move them out of the folder onto the microSD card. If you don’t do this step, your iDash Pro will not be able to locate the necessary files.
5. Eject micro-SD card
Eject and remove micro-SD card from computer
6. Start Vehicle
The iDash Pro will remain on as long as it sees an RPM signal. We recommend updating the firmware while the vehicle is running. If that’s not possible, simply click the down button to wake it up and any time.
7. Insert micro-SD card into iDash Pro
In your vehicle, insert micro-SD card into the front of the iDash Pro
8. Enter the Menu Screen
Press the Select button (top right) to enter menu screen
9. Select “Firmware Update”
Use the Up and Down buttons to highlight “Firmware Update” then press the Select button
10. Select the gauge you want to update
Use the Up and Down buttons to highlight “iDash Pro Primary” or “iDash Pro Secondary x” then press the Select button
11. Select firmware downloaded in step 1
Select the proper firmware file that you downloaded in step 1
Note: If your vehicle has two firmware files try the first file, if you receive an error message try the second file.
12. Follow prompts and wait for install
Follow iDash Pro prompt and wait for the firmware to install (approximately 1 min).
Note: If iDash Pro does not reboot on its own, tap down key to wake it up
WARNING! Do not remove the micro-SD card, or turn the vehicle off, during the update.
13. Test Update
Once iDash Pro firmware update is complete, start your vehicle. Verify the gauges display data correctly and verify the firmware is updated to the correct version in System Info Menu.
