Derringer for 2024/25 Duramax Update
“Dude!! Just got Derringer and iDash Pro installed in my ’24 today…. This this is stupid sick! Lol,” says Matthew Rhoades of Fort Madison, Iowa. Matt is one of more than two dozen Test Pilots providing real-time feedback to Banks Engineers about the forthcoming 2024-2025 Duramax 6.6L tuner. Meanwhile, another group of Test Pilots are providing real-world feedback for the forthcoming Ram-Air Intake System.

As some may recall from our previous article on the topic, GM made adding power via tuning and airflow improvements more difficult in mid-2023 with the deployment of the Global B architecture and new sensors in the intake and exhaust system. Not only are there additional sensors, they are more finely calibrated. No longer can an aftermarket intake or exhaust manufacturer simply increase the size or flow of the intake, filter or exhaust pipe. Any deviation from stock will set codes and throw the truck into limp mode (reduced engine power). In the case of the intake system, if an aftermarket intake increases pressure by improving airflow, the truck’s ECM thinks there’s a hole in the stock filter. Not wanting to draw in debris, it shuts down the truck. Conversely, dropping pressure behind the DPF (Diesel particulate filter) causes the truck to go into limp mode because the ECM thinks the DPF is full of soot, even though it may actually be empty.

How will Banks improve airflow without upsetting the truck? Unlike our competitors, we have a talented Electrical Engineering Team who’ve designed and patented devices that allow us intercept and manipulate sensor data before it reaches the truck’s ECM. (This is the engineering team that developed the electronic engine control systems for the Army’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle program and hybrid HMMWV project. We’re not just another air intake company. We design and build engines. No other aftermarket company can claim that.) With these systems, we can improve airflow and power while our competitors are stuck with selling stock performance. If you have a 2024 or 2025 Duramax, be wary of any manufacture who claims to add power with an intake or exhaust system.
