Grid heater crisis averted!
“I have a 2016 Ram 3500 DRW with the AS69RC and 4:10 rear end,” explained Chris in an email. “I purchased the Banks Monster-Ram Air Intake with the Grid Heater Upgrade. Compared to price tag of a new engine, it’s cheap insurance if the grid heater corrodes and falls off. When the OEM intake was removed, I found corrosion on the grid heater bolt. Who knows how long it would have lasted.” Unfortunately, hundreds of RAM owners have not been as lucky. The grid heater bolt has melted, fallen into the manifold, and made its way into too many engines, causing expensive damage.
“An additional benefit I was interested in, was the reported improvement in fuel mileage. Since installing it, I’ve driven 2,300 miles cross country. Comparing to my files from last year, early indications are that I’m getting as much as 1 mpg increase. When I am done with my travels and drive the 2,300 miles home, I’ll compare it to a full season of driving. As you can imagine, I’m very happy with my purchase.”
