Emissions testing sets Banks apart

Banks’ Engineering Test Group is hard at work testing an undisclosed new tuner to see if its calibrations meet or exceed California’s strict emissions requirements. A few years ago, Banks upgraded its emissions equipment to an AVL M.O.V.E. Portable Emissions Measuring System (PEMS). This highly accurate and rather expensive equipment makes it possible for products to be tested before sending the vehicle to be tested at a State-approved emissions lab. Having this equipment gives Banks a huge advantage over other aftermarket parts manufacturers. According to AVL, Banks is the only aftermarket parts manufacturer to own one of these systems. They’re found almost exclusively in federal and state-owned or sanctioned emissions labs, universities, and vehicle manufacturers.

This portable emissions lab measures NMHC (Non-Methane Hydrocarbons), total Hydrocarbons, NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen), CO, CO2, and Oxygen concentrations within the exhaust gas of diesel and gasoline vehicles. The system also includes a micro soot meter, which measures the physical amount of soot emissted in grams per mile.

When we say that our performance parts produce cleaner emissions than a particular competitor, we’re not just guessing. We have the data to prove it.
