Sixth-Gen Camaro Relies iDash

John Delpriore is a full-time college student in North Carolina, but that doesn’t mean he can’t pour attention into his sixth-gen Camaro. He’s had a hand in every part of his car. From wrenching on it to making carbon fiber parts in his dorm room.

John makes the carbon fiber parts for his sixth-gen Camaro by hand.

“There’s nowhere else to do it. I keep my door closed and my window open almost all the time. All of the sanding is done outside, but I have to keep the parts stored in my room overnight. I did my front bumper, hood, and front fenders, and right now I’m doing a duck-billed trunk. They’re more for looks than weight savings, I did all that on the inside. But really, it’s already considerably light because it has the 2.0L four-cylinder turbo.”

Rather than only throwing a tuner on his car, John instead has done a considerable amount to the engine. He has built it into a stout powerplant. “It’s a bit overkill what I’ve done to it. The only thing else I could do is to get a forged block, but no one makes one. I’m limited to making about 450-wheel horsepower, even with the forged internals.”

Our iDash integrates beautifully into the sixth-gen Camaro

“The iDash SuperGauge monitors all of my parameters. I’ve never had an electronic gauge, so I wanted to get one that would literally show me everything rather than getting 4 or 5 from AEM. Having them all in one unit that just plugs into the OBD2 port just made more sense. I’m monitoring the fueling and cooling most of all. Right now, I have a defroster mount with a single iDash, but sometime soon I’m hoping to get a twin gauge pillar mount for an additional iDash.”
