00:24 time so that is what falls off sits right there they get hot they get brittle they melt that goes into a cylinder you’re done that’s an engine job this guy was lucky we’ve already had the banks kit here in stock ready to roll the way he knew as he walked up to it wiggled this
00:51 while it was in the truck felt that it was loose scheduled his appointment made it here just in time we’ll get him fixed up and save him an engine
Trevin Willis of Willis Diesel just saved another RAM owner from a costly engine repair. “After watching a video on our Instagram about grid heater failure, the owner of this ’17 RAM went out to his truck and wiggled the power lead that goes to the grid heater. He noticed it was loose, so he called and made an appointment with us. I heard something drop as I took the wire off the post that powers the grid heater. It was the nut from the bottom of the heater plate. The post that goes through the plenum broke off in my hand. He was just days away from one of the cylinders ingesting that nut. This truck only had 61,000 miles on the clock.”

“This is a real problem,” Trevin says with concern. “I’m shocked that Ram or Cummins hasn’t addressed it. That’s what I hear from everyone.. ‘why aren’t they taking care of this.’ Since posting the video about this truck, three more guys have called complaining about a loose post. This means they’re on the verge of failing, too. They’ve parked the trucks and are waiting to bring them to me. We’re installing Banks Monster-Rams in all of them because the owners rely on these trucks. They can’t afford to have them fail.”
Thinking for a moment and then counting under his breath, Trevin realizes he has repaired six grid heater failures this year alone. “The one in May was a total engine job because the nut destroyed the cylinder and head. If he had installed a Monster-Ram, it would have prevented it and would have been one-twentieth of the price.
Trevin has seen it all. After mastering his craft at RKO Diesel in Springville, Utah, he ran Industrial Injection’s service department. Wanting to venture out independently in 2019, he opened Willis Diesel in Lindon, Utah, just south of Provo.
