Ram-Air Cools EGTs and Adds Power

Jeff Berdeax was lucky to find a 1999 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke with only 160k miles. The Virginian snatched it up to be used as a work truck for his new air conditioning business. “It’s a great truck,” explains Jeff, “but all of the equipment and the a/c units in the trailer weigh it down. Some of those units can weigh up to 5 tons. I put a tune on it to compensate for all that weight. I got better power, but I noticed my EGTs skyrocket. I knew it needed more air, so I used the Banks Ram-Air system. There’s a lot of other competitors out there, but the reason that I went with Banks is because of all the research and development that I know went into making it. My EGTs dropped by 100 degrees, and I got better throttle response—it’s just amazing!

Banks Ram-Air intake installed on a Ford 7.3L Power Stroke

“I’m new to the diesel world, and when looking into performance upgrades, I researched and concluded that Gale Banks was the real deal. Gale talking about the right air density for power really sold me. I can tell that with my tune and the addition of the Ram-Air Intake, I’m making significant gains. It was crazy that adding that one thing instantly changed how it tows. Everything about the intake system, I can tell, was made with high standards. I appreciate all that went into making it, and as a consumer, I feel I got my money’s worth. I want to upgrade to the full Monster Exhaust System and Intercooler Upgrade next!”
