BANKS NEW GM-DURAMAX MARINE V-8 ENGINE ON EXHIBIT AT 2009 MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

Banks Power will take part in the Miami International Boat Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center February 12 -16.

Azusa, Calif. – –  Banks Power, the exclusive, world-wide distributor for General Motors Duramax diesel engines, and the only factory-authorized manufacturer of the new Duramax Marine Engine will take part in the Miami International Boat Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center February 12 -16.

Introduced as a “concept” at last year’s show, the prototype Duramax Marine Engine was displayed within the main GM Powertrain exhibit.  For the 2009 show Banks Marine Engines will have its own stand-alone product display area (show booth Q42) located in the show’s main hall.

This engine, which Banks comprehensively converts for marine duty, is based on the stalwart 6.6 liter Duramax V-8 diesel engine which the Banks drag racing team has recently used to set a number of speed records on land.

The Banks-marinized version of that engine is designed to supply the same kind of dependable performance, range, and durability which Banks on-highway vehicle customers have come to expect from the company, many of them having already experienced “Banks Power” in their own tow vehicles.

This brand-new marine engine is the product of an official relationship between Banks and General Motors, set up for the purpose of developing the GM Duramax engine for marine use.  This continues Banks’ long association with General Motors that dates back more than 30 years which has produced a good number of successful joint projects.

Company founder and CEO Gale Banks plans on being at the show on Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13 to meet with press and public at the Banks exhibit.

Recently Banks was the recipient some very significant recognition.

A museum exhibition entitled “Banks Power – The First 50 Years” opened on December 3, 2008 at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, California.  The colorful and educational 3,400 square foot museum exhibit traces the Banks company history from its founding in 1958 right up to present time.

A second high honor was accorded Banks on January 25, 2009 at the National Automotive Dealers Association’s annual convention.  There the Automotive Hall of Fame presented Banks with their 2009 Distinguished Service Award. The list of winners of this award truly reads like a “Who’s Who” of the American automotive industry.
