LB7 Gets Fresh Air
David from Willomet Motor & Fab showcases his 1985 Diesel Chevy Suburban quite a bit on the channel, and why not? It’s the first vehicle that he’s ever owned, and the canvas that he learned to weld and fabricate on. His dad had ordered it from the factory, and over the years he’s maintained and upgraded it into an impressive off-road powerhouse. But being an ’85, it’s doesn’t always make it to its destination without issue. That’s where David’s Chevy Duramax comes in. “My 2001 Duramax LB7 is a great piece of gear, but after using it to haul the Suburban a handful of times a few improvements did make sense.” David isn’t looking for massive horsepower and torque increases, just a little more oomph to make towing easier. Starting with a free-flowing intake is always a great place to start. Enter the Banks Ram-Air Intake System.
“I’ve always known Banks stuff to be quality stuff”, explains Dave. “I’ve noticed with the Ram-Air Intake a ¾ mile per gallon increase in highway fuel economy, and a marked improvement in throttle response, especially the mid-range. This is an easy and enjoyable 30-minute install. I love fabricating, but you have to recognize there is some great value to just doing a simple bolt-on and enjoying the output.”
