WEEKEND UPDATE:
BANKS S-10 DURAMAX DIESEL DRAG TRUCK
LOOKING TO SET NEW NHRDA RECORD SAT. OCT. 4
NHRDA DESERT DIESEL TRUCK NATIONALS
SPEEDWORLD DRAGSTRIP – WITTMANN, ARIZONA
Last minute preps at the Banks race shop in Azusa (Thursday AM)
Short notice, but the quickest-ever diesel-powered racing truck, the Banks Power Sidewinder S-10, is scheduled to go after a new NHRDA (National Hot Rod Diesel Association) quarter mile record at Speedworld Dragstrip in Whittmann, Arizona this Saturday, October 4.
The twin-turbocharged GM Duramax-engined machine currently holds title as the quickest and fastest pickup truck in the quarter-mile (taking only an astonishing 7.723 seconds and clocking a breath-taking 179.21 miles-per-hour in the process). As fans of Banks’ Sidewinder racing efforts know, this diesel makes these record runs with tire smoke only. This powerful machine races as a working example of Banks’ trademarked “CleanTune” technology.
Gates open for the single day (Saturday) event at 9am, with qualifying from 10am until noon. Elimination rounds start at 1pm. The Speedworld Dragstrip is located about 30 miles North of Phoenix on Highway 60. (For further track information: 623-388-2424 – www.speedworlddragstrip.com)
This appearance will be the 1,200+ horsepower Banks S-10’s first at an NHRDA event.
