Vette Gets Boost from PedalMonster
Steve Welty’s 2013 Corvette Grand Sport is no slouch when it comes to performance. The car is built for power and speed, but getting to that power and speed without jamming his foot on the throttle—well, that’s a different story. I went with Banks’ PedalMonster because I didn’t like the feel of the stock pedal. I could feel the power on the back half of the acceleration, but on the front half, I had no idea. Now, with the PedalMonster, I know exactly how to control the power, and I don’t have to push the pedal three-quarters or all the way to the floor to get the power.”
Improving the responsiveness of the 6.2L engine took some time to get used to. “I confess… I did get a ticket right away after installing the PedalMonster. I’m a very careful driver and have never gotten a ticket in the car, and driving it, sometimes you don’t feel the speed. That being said, I wasn’t used to the ‘right-now’ power I was just granted. There was traffic on a stretch of road that was 70 mph, and we were all driving slow because of it, but I saw an opening and pulled around him. I just put in a little more fuel, and a cop nailed me. I looked down and was going about 95 mph. That was just the second day I had it, and I wasn’t used to it. I have it on CITY level 5 because I get all the power I need, and I don’t want to break the tires loose.”
“Since installing it, I’ve noticed that my mileage has improved by an extra mile per gallon because I’m not having my foot in it anymore. I wasn’t expecting anything like that, but I’ll take it.”
