SAE at the NHRA Museum

All SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) was recently invited to come together on the morning of Saturday, August 28th at the NHRA Museum in Pomona. Since COVID restrictions have limited student shop access, this was a chance to show off their team project cars, completed or not, to members of the industry. Banks, who is looking to hire in engineering positions, was on hand to meet with Formula SAE, Baja SAE, And Aero Design students. The event was free to all SAE members, with the student displays on the outside of the museum.

All in attendance had access to the NHRA museum, which itself was an excellent location for the meeting. The museum was conceived to be the place to view and learn about the history of hot rods, customs, race cars, speed records, and discover stories of the people who made them possible inspiring all generations. Housed in one of the museum’s wings is the Gale Banks Automotive Technology Exhibit, showcasing the SAE supporter’s innovative automotive career through 60+ years. Gale spoke to the crowd of aspiring engineers encouraging and enlightening them as to the possibilities not only in his company but how they can help change the world.
