In the ’60s and ’70s, Banks was primarily known for building and customizing high-performance vehicles and boats, with a heavy emphasis on turbocharging. In the competitive world of endurance racing, Banks earned a number of marine and land-speed championships. That experience as “California hot-rodders” provided a solid background in optimizing engines for power and durability.

When the first fuel crunch hit in 1974 Banks took all of that knowledge and experience and began developing engine-power products for motorhomes. These products were all designed, developed, and tested at the Banks campus by its engineers and grouped together in performance bundles, each part designed to work with the other. Gasoline applications include upgrades to the intake, exhaust, and any necessary computer enhancements. In diesel applications, electronics, manifold (when called for), and turbo upgrades are employed. These systems virtually eliminate restrictions that limit an engine’s power potential, liberating horsepower and torque vastly improving performance and miles per gallon.
