Step-by-step Installation

1. Before starting the installation, use your 10mm socket to remove the negative terminals and disconnect both batteries.

This is important because you’ll be working near an airbag and you don’t want it to go off.

2. Pull off about three feet of the weather stripping from just below the dashboard to the top of the A-pillar.

The weather seal is held in with pressure, and will pop right out with your finger tips.

3. Pry the side dashboard cover open.

Beware: If you use a screwdriver, it could leave a mark on the soft plastic. A plastic pry tool and/or rag is recommended.

This will provide access to run your wires to and from the iDash.

4. With a plastic pry tool or pick, pop the cover that hides the two handle bolts.

There is a small hole on the bottom of the handle grip where you can insert a pick and pop this trim piece out.

Remove this trim piece and put it aside for now.

5. Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts.

6. With a firm downward tug, release the A-Pillar from the vehicle.

It is held on by this clip on the top.

Take note of the tweeter speaker in the front of the A-Pillar if your vehicle has one.

Once unplugged the pillar can be removed from the vehicle.

Cable Access Hole Prep & Drilling

7. Bring the pillar to a work bench with a non-slip surface.

8. Note this spot where you will be drilling your cable access hole.

9. Mark the step bit to the 16 or 18mm step.

16mm is enough for a single cable; for two cables, such as when running an iDash with a PedalMonster, go to the 18mm step.

The Ford stealth pod has a shroud that will cover the hole you make.

10. Enlarge the hole to 16-18mm.

You may need to drill the hole from both sides to remove all the scraps of plastic.

11. Next cut off the lower portion of the plastic handle trim across the line a shown.

It is the end which has the small hole.

A pair of flush cutters works well.

With your Stealth Pod, check the final fitment before returning to the truck.

12. Back at the truck, run the smaller end of the OBD-II Cable up from under the foot well area.

Take your time, you should be able to fish the cable up through the dashboard.

Keep running it up until there is enough slack to make it through the access hole you drilled.

13. Reattach the tweeter speaker if your vehicle has it.

Slide your A-Pillar back into place until it snaps back in.

Stealth Pod Installation

14. Grab your stealth pod and its new supplied bolt. Run your data cables through the back of the pod.

Don’t install the pod yet, just run the wires through and set the pod to the side.

15. Install the top OEM bolt first.

This is so you can snap the plastic handle trim back on before installing the Stealth Pod on the lower part.

…now tighten the Stealth Pod in place with its new bolt and Alan Key.

16. Plug the 4 pin OBD cable into the back of your iDash.

17. Take up the extra slack as your slide the iDash into place. There should be just enough to pull the iDash back out if needed.

18. Tidy up any extra with the included zip ties.

19. Check there is enough slack at the bottom to attach your OBD-II cable, if it looks good, close up the side door.

20. Connect the OBD-II cable under your dashboard.

21. Check that the door weather seal is back in place.

22. Reconnect both batteries.

23. Check that the iDash powers up, is in the correct mode for your vehicle, and enjoy your new Banks Stealth Pod.
