While testing our Whipple supercharged Duramax at a somewhat lean 18:1 air-fuel ratio, Gale Banks pushed the Diesel engine to see how much power it would produce. After hitting a respectable 666 horsepower, he asked Aaron, one of our engine calibration engineers, to test its transient response. In other words, would the engine respond quicker than the 540-inch blown methanol monster truck engine it was designed to replace? Gale’s reaction says it all.
