1. iDash Background Alerts

2. Opening the Alert Menu

To configure the feature, the process begins from the iDash menu system. Press the right arrow to open the menu, then scroll down to Alerts. Inside that menu, continue to Background Alerts, which is where custom notifications can be created and managed.

3. Using an Empty Alert Slot

Within the Background Alerts screen, some basic alerts may already be configured. To add a regeneration notification, scroll down to an empty alert slot and select it. That opens the setup for a user-defined alert, allowing the driver to choose exactly which parameter the iDash should monitor.

4. Selecting the Regen Parameter

The alert parameter can be chosen from any available category, but for diesel regeneration the correct category is Emissions. In the example shown, the iDash is reading emissions data from a 2022 Ford F-250 Power Stroke. Inside the Emissions category, the relevant item is DPF Regen Status, which is the parameter used to detect when regeneration is active.

5. Setting the Trigger Limit

After selecting DPF Regen Status, the next step is to choose Set Limit. The video specifies that Alert High Enable should be turned on. With the high alert enabled, set Alert High to 0. Because the trigger is based on any value greater than zero, this causes the iDash to generate an alert whenever the regen-status value rises above 0.

6. How the Alert Works

Once configured, the background alert operates automatically. The next time the truck goes into DPF regeneration, the iDash will display a pop-up alert to let the driver know that regen has started.
