Bigger tires and differential gear changes alter the relationship between road speed and what the vehicle thinks the wheels are doing. That leaves the built-in speedometer reading wrong. With Banks iDash Pro, you can enable Speed Correction, enter the OEM specs and your new vehicle specs, and the displayed vehicle speed is corrected on any iDash layout that shows speed. It’s a simple fix that gives you a speed reading you can actually use instead of guessing or doing the math in your head.

1. Speedometer Error After Tire or Gear Changes

Changing to larger tires or installing a different differential gear ratio causes the factory speedometer reading to become inaccurate. Once either of those changes is made, the vehicle's built-in speed display no longer reflects true road speed.

2. Using iDash Speed Correction

Instead of manually calculating the difference every time speed matters, the correction can be handled through the Banks iDash. The process starts by opening the iDash menu with the right arrow, then navigating to Settings.

3. Entering Vehicle Specifications

Within the Settings menu, there is a Speed Correction option. That function must be enabled before entering data. The user then inputs both the vehicle's original OEM specifications and the updated specifications that reflect the new tire size or gearing.

4. Corrected Speed Display

After those values are entered, any iDash layout that shows vehicle speed will display the corrected speed value. This allows the speed reading to match the vehicle's actual configuration rather than the original factory calibration.
