Even though it’s been 50 years since I sold my first engine, I can’t shake my love of things mechanical, especially if they’re fast – real fast.

Now, making cars and boats go fast is great. But it’s not worth a damn if they break in the process. That’s why I love the extreme horsepower of Drag Racing and the long distance challenge of Bonneville, Baja and Offshore Boats.

The higher the horsepower required to set Drag Race records or longer the Endurance Race, the more it separates the men from the boys. And, the winners from the losers.

Any jackass can make power. Hell, hand grenades make lots of power. The challenge is to build winning, world-record power that goes the distance.

That’s what I do. I develop my art in the company of over 200 people. They are Gale Banks Engineering. If I can dream it, they can make it happen. Of course, I’m bugging the hell out of them, insisting on excellence, the whole time.

They share in my life-long goal — build solid, no B.S. honest power numbers. Find every ounce of torque and every horsepower. Honor the capability of the engine and powertrain you are enhancing. Make it live and keep it clean.

Build it to go the distance whether work, sport or race, then advertise that power. Never, ever, advertise the power produced with the engine over-tuned and… on kill.
